The Association of Health Care Journalists 2023 Conference is set for March 9 – 12, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri.
The event brings together journalists from all over the country, focusing on stories within the health sector, which includes Caregiving.
Keeping It REAL Caregiving’s Julia Yarbough is honored to be invited as a panel speaker for one of the many sessions for the 2023 Association of Health Care Journalists Conference.
The panel to which Yarbough will speak on, goes to the heart of why Keeping It REAL Caregiving exists: to raise awareness to the many challenges faced by family caregivers and the need for greater advocacy, legislation and support.
Details of the Friday, March 10, 2023 panel session:
The biggest untold story in health care: 53 million family caregivers
Caregiving is now a chapter in life. Many people live longer, with more chronic disease and disability. Hospitals and doctors shift care into the home, expecting family members to perform medical tasks with little training or support — an invisible health care workforce that forgoes $30 billion in wages each year.
Increasingly, that includes men and younger generations. This panel will introduce this new face of care, including a caregiver who has created a support network, a mid-career entrepreneur who cares for his father, and an expert to talk about legislation and policy initiatives, including the nation’s first comprehensive national strategy for caregiving.
