We Are Advocates by Default – Presented by Black Family Caregivers
Keeping It REAL Caregiving and Caring Across Communities will join fellow family caregivers for a supportive, informative, and encouraging live seminar event. Consider this: we are advocates by default!
This online event is hosted by Black Family Caregivers. KIRC is honored to take part as we continue connecting and elevating our voices!
In this group session, Keeping It REAL Caregiving’s Julia Yarbough will discuss the importance of advocacy. Family caregivers take on many duties. One of those tasks is to view ourselves as advocates.
Remember, we are advocates by default
Which means being an advocate falls into many categories:
-
Accepting your role as a family caregiver
-
Educating ourselves about our loved ones financial, housing, medical, and insurance needs
-
Understanding the sometimes complex web of medical providers, insurers, and support providers
-
Being honest with ourselves about our own emotional capabilities
-
…and many more
