Project Description
Aging LGBTQ and Why it Matters explores growing awareness of the need for recognizing all segments of an aging population.
In this episode of Keeping It REAL Caregiving On-Air, we are diving into not one, but two societal issues and how they are connected.
Diversity and Equity
What does it mean to age when one identifies as LGBTQ? Keeping It REAL Caregiving talks with Jennifer Horn, MSW.
She is a Care Planner with the Family Caregiver Support Center at the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging, in Colorado. Ms. Horn offers a thoughtful overview of the importance of recognizing individuals for who they are and ensuring quality care throughout the life journey.
And, Horn is also an American Society on Aging 2022 ASA Rise Program Fellow.
*Note: The community Ms. Horn serves became the target of the violent and deadly attack in Colorado Springs, Colorado during the Club Q shooting rampage.
