Your caregiving calendar for the week of April 10 -16, ASA style

This coming week, Keeping it REAL Caregiving will be delivering news and information straight from some of the leading experts in the aging field.

American Society on Aging

I am proud to represent many of us as family caregivers, attending the 2022 American Society on Aging conference.

Throughout the coming week, the goal of KIRC will be to bring you as many LIVE reports direct from the conference.

If you haven’t already done so, be sure to follow my Facebook Page – Julia Yarbough Media Group and Instagram – locations for live updates

When possible, I’ll give a bit of a heads-up before jumping online

What to expect

So this week, I would like to share with you some of the titles of the various sessions that will be taking place.

Folks, I am truly excited for this opportunity to connect with and learn from some of the leading researchers in the field of aging.

There will be representatives from AARP, directors of Area Agencies on Aging from different states, Meta (Facebook) discussing how technology can offer new opportunities for older adults, medical and research leaders, public policy and legislative staff, and more!

Take a look at just some of the titles to the literally dozens of sessions over the next several days. This will give you an idea of the content I’ll be diving into.

*Pending Federal Policy for Aging in Place

*Using Medicare to Promote Health Equity and Economic Security for Low-income Older Adults

*Alternative Approaches to Alzheimer’s Care and Prevention Save a life, Save an Economy

*Dementia and the Needs of Patients and Family Caregivers

*What Advocates Need to Know Now about Federal Aging Policy

That is just a brief snapshot – but you get the idea.

I anticipate this week will be jam-packed and there will be no shortage of new information and concepts to gather and share with all of you.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Several of the sessions this week will be presented by members of the 2022 ASA Rise Fellows program, which I am proud to say I am part of. I won’t be presenting, but I will be supporting my fellow fellows!

If you missed our recent KIRC newsletter, check it out here. I dive deep into diversity, inclusion and equity and why it matters for BIPOC communities – especially within the health care space.

For those of you who may be fired-up about the possibilities of such an incredible gathering of aging experts in one place – you can still be a part of this.

ASA does have a virtual offering for the conference. There is a fee, but if you are interested, check it out.

Now, before I go, I would like to put out a CALL TO ACTION:

If you have specific questions, concerns, comments or want to be able to get information direct from the source of many aging and eldercare related organizations – PLEASE drop them in the discussion box.

I will do my best to get answers to as many questions as possible.

Remember – join me on social this week for LIVE updates from the American Society on Aging 2022 conference!

Until next time~ Julia
