Justice in Aging – Medicaid Work Requirements

During the Coffee Chat, we shared information regarding an opportunity for #Advocacy.

Justice in Aging recently shared this information and guidance:

Last week, the House of Representatives voted along party lines to pass the “Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023” (HR 2811). If enacted, this bill would severely cut discretionary spending and take away food assistance and Medicaid from older adults. Such cuts would force the Social Security Administration (SSA) to close field offices and reduce access to in-person services, increasing wait times for older adults who need help with Social Security and Medicare; cut federal housing and senior nutrition assistance; and jeopardize safety and quality for nursing facility residents and home health recipients. In addition, the legislation adds work requirements to Medicaid, which would create red tape and take away coverage from many older adults, people with disabilities, and family caregivers age 55 and younger. The bill would also expand work requirements in the SNAP program to older adults ages 50 to 55.
